Sunsets in South Africa

Evening walks through the vineyard guided by endless rows of grapes chaperoning you towards the sunset.

The smell of the wine cellar spilling out into the evening wind, reminding you of the hard work that goes into such a place every day.

Silhouettes dance in the twilight celebrating the colours that radiate out over the horizon.

Nature’s daily spectacle, on show to anyone who grants themselves the time to slow down, be present and appreciate.

Sunset on the Balcony

Sunsets in Paarl, South Africa, on the right evening are absolutely breath taking.

As the sun settles beyond the mountains the town is illuminated by an array of vibrant colours.

At the beginning of my trip in South Africa I stayed alone at a wooden house neatly tucked into the back of the Spice Route Estate.

Arranging most days to finish at around 4/5pm to return with fresh produce and make an evening meal in time for sunset.

In those days I found comfort in lighting a fire for an evening Braai, or prepping a pasta made with daily wild finds, whilst looking into the valley and out to Table Mountain.

The Ocean View

Getting out to the ocean gives me a sense of home. Growing up near the beach i’ve always loved what comes with being near the ocean; fresh seafood, salty air that makes my hair curl from the root and a perfect place to take a minute and reenergise.

Spending time in Hermanus provides the ability to escape to the ocean, enjoying a walk along the cliff path, along grotto beach or to just simply to sit with feet in the sand as the sun goes down.

There is really nothing quite like the sunset reflecting into the sea.
